Recently Used File List

Carl Childress

I have Office XP Professional. None of the programs I use
(Word, Access, Excel) allow me to set the number of files
for the "recently used" list. The entire option is dimmed.

Can anyone help?

Hi Carl,

Just so you know you aren't alone, I'm having the same problem as you. None
of my MRU boxes in Word, Excel or Access are enabled.

Hi again,

After I wrote my earlier message saying that I had the same situation, I
went into the Microsoft KB.

Article number 284896 at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;284896&Product=offxp
gives the reason for my not having it.

The link I posted is applicable for Win 2000. The fix given for W2K is

1. In Control Panel, double-click Tweak UI.
2. Click the IE tab.
3. Click to select the Add new documents to Documents on Start Menu check
box, and then click OK.

As I have Tweak, I launched Tweak UI, clicked on Explorer, and put a check
in the box that says "Maintain Document History." I now have MRU's. :>
