Recent file history not available in file menu

My Recent Document shows file on the start menu, but every program I have
installed, microsoft or not, does not show file history on the file menu. I
do not have "tweak ui" installed as far as I can tell. Any ideas, please?

If your using some cleanup utility like System Mechanic, Fresh UI,
DiskCleaner, etc. Make sure that they are not set to clear recent
documents.

Check these registry settings.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Value Name: ClearRecentDocsOnExit
Value Type: REG_DWORD
Value Data: 0 or 1
0 = No don't clear
1 = Yes clear them

Value Name: NoRecentDocsHistory
Value Type: REG_DWORD
Value Data: 0 or 1
0 = Yes history
1 = No history

If XP Pro you can use Group Policy...
Start | Run | Type: gpedit.msc | Click OK |
Navigate to >>>
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar\

Set both of these to Not Configured.

Do not keep history of recently opened documents

Clear history of recently opened documents on exit
