Recent Documents

When I click on the start button and get my start menu, I used to get a list
of my recent documents, but I don't anymore. I have a "Recent" folder under
my profile with my recent documents in it. I thought I should just be able
to put a shortcut on my Start menu, but when I right click on the Recent"
folder to get to "Properties", my system locks up for awhile and then when it
finally unlocks, I'm back to where I was before I right clicked on the
folder. I do not get any error messages telling me why I'm not getting
access to this folder's properties either.

If this problem is seen after installing a recent security update, see:

I know that you are more knowledgeable about these things than I, but I don't
think this is a recent problem caused by the updates. I noticed the absence
of the Recent documents listing from my start menu some time ago.

Perhaps this additional info may help: I am the only one who uses my
computer and I just log on and use it as "Adminitrator". Under each user's
profiles in "Documents and settings", there is a folder named "My Recent
Documents" with a special icon on the folder that looks like a typewritten
page with a clock partially covering the lower right hand corner of the page.
I have no trouble opening up the properties on either of these folders.
However, under my administrator's profile, I do not have this same folder,
but I do have one that just says "Recent" instead of "My Recent Documents".
If I right click on this folder in the folder tree in the left pane, it opens
up the drop down menu and gives me options for properties, delete, rename
etc. but if I try to rename it, it tells me that it is a Windows System file
and cannot be removed or renamed. Then, if I right click the folder when it
is in the right pane (which gives you the drop down menu with the option to
create a shortcut), nothing at all happens. It doesn't seem to be locking up
anymore. It just doesn't do anything at all.
It is only this folder that I have noticed a problem with the right click.
