Hi everyone. a couple of weeks ago after nothing much in particular (a
day or so after a defrag, but that should not matter) my "recent
documents" functionality under sp2 stopped working. It showed me the
old files that were already listed, but when I open new documents (all
office apps as well as other non-ms products) they no longer get
shortcutted there and therefore nothing new appears on my recent
documents list.

This extends to the "recent files" menu item in office apps as well --
they do not get refreshed or added to anymore. Now, I have checked
that folder still exists in my profile, and it is not marked read-only.
It looks from a permissions perspective just like those on other PCs
around the office.

So, thoughts on a possible fix? Is there a magic registry entry that I
may have done something to without knowing? The machine still works in
all other ways, but it is one of those little things that just s l o
w l y d r i v e s y o u c r a z y.

Cheers and thanks in advance.

Chris,

See if the NoRecentDocsHistory Policy is enabled. If so, disable it.
