Receiving faxes

I am able to send faxes, but cannot receive them. I have
configured everything to receive. It comes up "call
answered" then seconds later "error could not receive the
fax".

Kate, By chance do you also have an external fax machine
hooked up to the same phone line? As I said in the other
post, I got mine fixed (sort of) by reinstalling the MS
Fax application. However, it's not a perfect fix because
I have another fax hanging on that line. If you have a
second device, that may be your problem.

Please check whether your modem is in the list of XP compatible modem list
in
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ca...ryl2&pgn=01a642fd-2790-420f-90bd-85df6a377206.
XP Fax may not work with non certified modems.
