receiving e-mails automatically

I have Microsoft Vista Home Premium.
Why doesn't my windows e-mail automatically receive new
e-mail when I connect?
I have set the function under "tools"; "general" tabs to
send/receive at startup but it still doesn't do it.
suggestions???

You need to repost to microsoft,public.windows.vista.mail
This newsgroup is for support of Outlook
