receiving blank messages from myself

Hi
For about a week I have been receiving blank e-mail messages from my own
e-mail address. I have not sent them and they don't have attachments. They
are just blank, nothing even in the suject line. I receive 1-3 a day. What
is this, is it harmful and how do I get this to stop.

I have a new computer with Windows Vista home premium pre-installed.

I'm curious to know if anybody else has this.

Thanks for any thoughts and ideas,
Kaeley

Its probably just spam that is faking your email address. Just ignore it.

No one else has reported this issue.
Are the blank emails really from yourself?
Examine the headers by pressing the Ctrl and F3 keys.
This will tell you which servers the message was routed through.

Amen! I hear you. I am very appreciative that you use your time so wisely to
help us folks who don't know what the heck we're doing! Haha!

I really do enjoy reading your info.... I came on the boards again to see
if there was any update to the "message cannot be displayed, an unknow error
has occurred" issue that continues within Win Mail.... I only had two up
until this last week, now 3 more have the same issue... I have flagged these
items and then I filter my inbox to "hide flagged items"....however, it'd be
nice if there was an actual fix. Do you know if there is? I know there is a
download that is mentioned on the microsoft website.... i forget what the
download number is, but you have to choose the 32-bit or 64-bit for vista....
are you familiar with this? I think you are... as I thought I read some post
where you mentioned it. It fixed an error another user had regarding items
stuck in our outgoing folder. Do you think this will fix my error?

This fix usually works for such problems. Download and install it with
Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version or
the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version first. Certain common
antivirus programs, such as most of those from Norton or McAfee,
or a recent one from Trend, tend to cause such problems, although
seldom immediately, so if you need a permanent fix, you may need
to uninstall your antivirus program and install a better replacement.
For many other antivirus programs, just disabling email scanning is
enough.
