Received messages vanish instantly

My Outlook sometimes receives messages, I see them for a split second in the
in box, and then they vanish completely. This happens randomly, as I receive
most of my messages. I've accessed my e-mail online, and the messages are
there. How can I stop this vanishing act?

Check your rules to see if there's a rule in effect that moves the message
somewhere else. Check the junk mail folder to see if that's where they're
ending up.
 
Thanks for the reply. I don't have any junk-sorting going on within Outlook.
The strange thing about this is it often happens with e-mails from my
wife...most get through, but others get the disappearing treatment. Any
other suggestions?
