on both our -not-connected, only same router- homecomputers sending mail is
impossible, windows mail (vista) gives message that it can't connect with
server. If it is vista it is strabge that both compouters at the samen time
have this problem? That is why I thought it was the server from Tiscali. I
had contact with tiscali for outgoing mail but their server works properly
(check with: telnet smtp.tiscali.nl 25) I was told to shut down all security
itmes on my compouter, but without result. I have avast as
anti-virusprogramme. What can I do???
Thanks ahead

Did you install avast as a custom install without the module that scans
email? If not, you may need to uninstall avast and then install it this
way.

On the computer with the problem, download the following fix and
install it with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

It's labelled as for messages stuck in the Outbox, but works for
other folders as well. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit
version or the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version first.

If this doesn't work, you may need to show us the entire error
messages you get when you try to send if you get any.

I download the customized version of avast, and closed the emailscanning (in
and outgoing post)
I downloaded from microsoft support that program that you recommand, and run
it...without result,
when I send email I first get a message that I cannot make contact with the
server for some time and if I want to wait some more time, I can answer wait
or stop. I stop then nothing is changed (!), i f I wait the message disappaer
and next message appear:

"Kan het bericht niet verzenden. (can't send message) De
verificatie-instelling is mogelijk niet juist voor de server voor uitgaande
e-mail [SMTP]. (verification probably not correct for outgoing mail server
(smtp)) U vindt informatie over dit probleem in de Help. Zoek naar 'Problemen
oplossen in Windows Mail' en raadpleeg de sectie 'Ik heb problemen met het
verzenden van e-mail'. (look for answers in 'help'prpgram: no result). Als u
hulp nodig hebt bij het vaststellen van de juiste serverinstellingen, neemt u
contact op met de serviceprovider voor e-mail. (contact serverprovider: I did
without result< they did a test to check the server and that was functioning
all right....they told me too look deeper into the machine...???
Hope this info will help you and me...

thanks again

Do you get the same error '451 Could not complete sender verify callout'
regardless of which recipient you are sending to?

You didn't say which antivirus you had before Avast. It is possible that
your previous antivirus corrupted the email account, so delete that
account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that account.
