Recall This Message...

In MS Outlook 2003, how does "Recall This Message..." works?
When i recall a message i sent to a colleague which he haven't open, it does
not delete the email in his "Inbox", instead he receives a notify mail that
i wanted to recall the message. He still can view my original mail.

Shouldn't it deletes the mail automatically (mail have not open) when there
is a recall request.

Once it has been delivered to someone's inbox, no, you cannot "quietly"
recall it. If you are on an exchange server, and the person has not picked
up their mail from it yet, then it will quietly recall it.
