Rebuild XP

Rich

Hi,
I would like to rebuild my XP Professional machine. I
don't have the key code anymore (I installed it in Dec'
2001). Is there a way to wipe out the drive and rebuild
or will I have problems with this. In addition, a few
months after I had XP (it was an upgrade from Win'98), I
had a problem and had to call help. As a result of their
instructions the registration number became an OEM
despite the fact it was not an OEM edition.
Thanks
Rich

.You can reformat your hard drive which will wipe your
disk clean. Beware that in doing this, all data will be
lost so you need to backup all of your important
information. Just boot from the CD and do a clean
install. You will need to have the product key to
reinstall your OS, sorry.

.
youre confused or a liar.

an oem will not install with a retail pid or visa versa.

maybe you bought an oem and thought you bought a retail
copy, either that or you are probably lying in hopes of
getting a free pid you never purchased.

You *must* have a Product Key to do the install. Always. get the free
Aida 32, enterprise edition from
http://www.aida32.hu/aida-download.php?bit=32
which is an excellent general System Info tool, and its Software -
Licenses page will tell you the one used for Windows and ones for
several other items.

Note that if the machine came with XP installed, this will probably give
a key used in producing an original image, then cloned to all machines
they make. So it is not the one for a reinstall. But then the key will
be on a label on the case of the machine
