reboots at shutdown;

I installed a usb 2/firewire combo board ( an ALi). Now when I try to
shutdown the computer will go through a normal shutdown but then immediately
reboot. I've tried to update the driver but so far the problem still
persists. Any suggestions?

have you tried shutting down from the task manager? (access via ctrl + alt +
del)

If that does not work you can ether run the repair consol (put in the xp cd,
restart then boot from cd and run the repair consol)

Or you can try using the msconfig utility. Access via the start menus run
comman by typing msconfig into the box. Then run diagnostic startup, and
slowly tick 5 startup items and non-microsoft service items at a time to fnd
out what exactly is causing the problem. If you know just untick it from the
startup and services tab
