computer didnt cum with sorftware any ideas

Hi,

Using the WinXP Boot floppy set:
http://www.rickrogers.org/fixes.htm#Boot floppy

If his pc didn't include a recovery disk set (meaning the recovery data is
likely on a hard drive partition), then you need to consult with the
manufacturer regarding the proper method of booting the system when the OS
is not loading.

Do you have a floppy disk in the drive? Take it out and reboot the
computer. Otherwise, go here for help in writing a good newsgroup post:

http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm

Then come back with all necessary details and someone will help you.

So apparently you don't have a floppy in the drive. You still haven't
given nearly enough information about the error message and your
computer to get focused troubleshooting. Please do go to the link
explaining what information you need to include in a newsgroup post:

http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm

I'm not saying this to hurt your feelings; please remember that we can't
see your computer and you need to be descriptive.

You could be having hardware problems and then the computer can't find
the boot files which is why it is asking for a boot disk. This could
mean your hard drive has failed, but it could also have many other
causes.

Depending on your level of computer skills, you may just want to take
the machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local
version of BigStoreUSA). Or if the computer is from an OEM (HP, Dell,
etc.) and is under warranty, call their tech support.

You can use any Windows XP cd to boot from?
What version does he/she have?

Of course, you don't know or haven't stated WHY the computer is requesting
to boot from the CD!!!

Perhaps a step by step response is needed...

Wayne,

Can you confirm that you are doing one of the following:

1. Starting your computer from OFF and getting a message when it trys to
start up?
2. Shutting you machine down and getting a message that a disc is needed?
3. Rebooting your machine and getting a message that a disc is needed?
4. Your machine has a fault that makes it reboot itself but it then asks for
a disc?

Please tell us all the exact error message as it appears on the screen.
There is no such error message as "please insert reboot disk" that i have
ever seen, so can you be exact about the error message and the steps that
occur to get the message?

Then we can all help you more effectively.

Rob.
