Reassociate xml with xml editor

Since the last few days I'm having a problem with xml files.They are supposed
to open in xml editor but they open in notepad.I've tried reassociating them
with xml editor by going to folder options>file types and also by right
clicking on them,going to properties and changing the open with option but to
no result.Although they are associated with xml editor they open in
notepad.This is causing a lot of problems especially in Office 2007 where I
can't use the help option.Can anyone please tell me what I can do?Thanks in
advance.

Does opening up Windows Explorer, then click on Tools, then folder
options. Click on the file types tab at the top, then scroll down to
XML. files. Highlight it, then click on the change button and choose
what program you would like to open this type of file.
