Reassinging DVDROM Drive Letter

I want to reassign the drive letter assigned to my DVD-ROM when I installed
XP so I can use letters C thru F for local partitions. I want to change the
letter from D to G.

This was easy in Win2K. How do I do this in XP?

Not much different in XP. Right click on my computer and select manage.
Under the storage section there is disk management.

Note that best way IMHO is to assign to removable media drives last letters
of the alphabet : taht way if you ever repartition and / or add new hard
disk they will not interfere.
I have assigned R to my CD-Rom drive, V to DVD-Writer and W to CD-Writer
drives. X / Y / Z are for my virtual drives.
DiskManager allows that very easily : enter diskmgmt.msc in teh run dialog,
and there you go.

Nice one!

Just as easy, but a completely different place. I tried 'drive letter' in
Help, but nothing there.

Thanks.

Control Panel - Admin Tools - Computer Management, select Disk
Management and look lower right for the icons of DVD and graphic of the
hard drive. You can right click the DVD or any HD partition other than
C and 'Change drive letter'
