I put a fresh install on a compaq presario 2.2gh, 512 m. ram, WinXP
For some reason on last fresh install the computer dicided that what is
normally my C: drive would be better off being named I:.
Now all of the downloads I try cancel because c: drive has been assigned to
a removeable drive that is not there.
How do I change my drive names back?
Thanks...gary

You can not change the drive designation of the Windows partition. You are
in for a complete format/install. Boot from the Windows XP CD. Follow the
prompts. Make sure you are installing to drive C:

That is amazing. I'd say you installed a copy of Windows XP not on the
drive that you are booting from. You can use Drive Manager to change the
drive letters of all drives except the one Windows XP is using. If you can
change the drive letter of the one that is currently C drive well now that's
a new one on me.

No, this often happens when a ZIP drive is installed in the computer, even if there is no media in it. In this case, disconnect the ZIP drive (or similar drive) and format and reinstall.
