What is the function of realsched.exe in Windows XP Home edition?

My CPU is often being driven to 100% usage, per Windows Task Manager. I
have 512 MB RAM and Task Manager typically says realsched.exe takes 35-40%
of the CPU capacity.

I have the RealPlayer and Rhapsody applications, but neither one is opened.
So what is realsched.exe doing?

I'd like to use Task Manager to end the realsched.exe process, but I might
be crippling something vital to the O/S.

csrss.exe takes an added 35% of CPU capacity. I have read, however, that
csrss.exe is a legitimate Windows process. I don't know if I can say the
same about realsched.exe.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this??

It is part of Real Player. That is why I will never put that garbage on my
computer.
