Really strange Vista problem

Espen

I've encountered a problem with Vista that I can't understand at all.

I recently bought an Acer Aspire laptop with Vista Home Premium. For the
most part it works fine, but there is one huge problem: Notepad, calculator,
messenger all crash when I try to type something. All these programs seems
fine when I turn the machine on, but after a while of use these programs
won't work. I try to type something and the programs crash. I close the
programs and try again with the same result. Word, OpenOffice and most other
programs with user input seems to work just fine all the time.

Does anyone have any idea what this is? I went through the task manager
recently and ended all running processes one by one to see if any of them had
an impact, but it didn't help. It's really annoying to have Messenger crash
like this; I receive a message and try to respond, but it crashes so I have
to restart my PC. I installed the SP1 RC1, but it didn't help either.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories and right-click
on the Command Prompt and choose "Run as administrator".
Type in: SFC /SCANNOW and press your Enter key.

If that does not work, try repairing your system. Boot from your Windows
Vista DVD, select the System Repair Option > on the setup screen, select
'Repair Computer > Select your installation of Windows > select Startup
Repair option and follow instructions.

If don't have a Windows installation DVD, try doing a System Restore to an
earlier point before you started experiencing this problem.
