Really sloooow burning cd with media player 9

it taking me up to 3 hrs to burn a 50 minute cd from mp3
files using media player 9 & xp pro. The problem seems to
be in the conversion stage. Once the tracks are converted
then it copys fine according to the speed of my burner,
but converting one file is taking. It doesn't matter if
the files are from my hard drive or or from a cd. I have
plenty of hd space and fast processor. any ideas would be
appreciated.
 
use roxio for that task. it seems to work faster than media player.
