Really LONG System Restore Times on Two Computers

Alan, Bert:
I'm willing to un-install Zone Alarm from my D: partition and re-install it
to the install's default location on my hard drive if you are interested.

Zone Alarm ( At least the latest version ) has caused me some
issues. My system volume was reporting a Chkdsk error with
the Metadata $Exetend component. After some investigation I
found that the Zone Alarm component Srescan.Exe was causing
the erroneous Chkdsk error.
Apparently Zone Alarm Free uses the full product installer but
leaves certain things inactive or not installed. I've also noticed a
few context menu additions that shouldn't be applied for the free
product install.
I'm still using ZA Free, but have about reached my limits on the
amount of "Quirks and Anomalies" I'll tolerate to get the outbounds
traffic monitoring ZA provides.

Hi JS and Bert,

There's one more thing I thought about that MIGHT explain why JS is not
having problems, although it's only a 'might.'

I believe that someone mentioned previously that large RPs had been reported
in Z/A versions between the one that JS previously had installed and the
latest version.

Each time that I've updated Z/A, I have not done clean installs. Rather, I
use the 'update' install in order to preserve whatever settings I have set
in prior versions of that application.

It's possible that *I* might have installed one of the buggy interim
versions, which caused the huge RPs, and then when I updated to the latest
version that JS is now using -- and which I had been using at the time I
started this thread -- the anomaly in the buggy version of Z/A just carried
through.
