Real-Time Protection not working or misunderstood the definition

The program detected the spyware and removed it. When I
visited the website again, and run the program, it
detected the spyware again. Suffice to say, it did not
protect the computer (real-time protection is enabled) or
I just misunderstood real-time protection.
