Real Time Agent Checkpoints = 100

I have an issue with the real time protection. It shows
100 agents, but none are actually showing active. Trying
to activate puts program in hourglass forever. Removing
and reinstalling doesn't fix this.

I have tried cleaning registry between also. Once this
happens it stays until a fresh install of the OS. I have
2 machines hung this way now. 1 is AMD and 1 is pentium4
so it's not related. 1 is XP Pro OEM, and 1 is XP Pro
retail (not that it should matter)

Anyone have any ideas or a fix ?

If you've had Giant around, you might check for a mix of old (Giant) and new
(MS-Giant) files, probably in system32.

I've done many installs where I updated and scanned without a reboot--nearly
all my installs are done via Remote Desktop.

Norton Systemworks 2005 will usually interfere with agent functionality.
