Real Tek Audio problem

After removing the Real Tek program from my pc using add/remove after
experiencing a DLL relocation error message, I am unable to successfully
reinstall it and get audio back on my pc. my add/remove folder shows the
following software
is installed on my computer: 1) Realtek AC'97 Audio 2) Realtek High
Definition Audio Driver.

I also deleted update KB925902 using add/remove and then detected the patch
KB935448 already installed.

Question: why is there still no sound on my pc?

If those two updates didn't work for your sound, then you need a new sound
card. That is why it isn't working.

I think you need to remove the patch to re-install the software , then
reapply the patch.

(there was no need to remove the software ...the patch should have removed
the DLL relocation error )

For all of the time spent on this problem, one could have re-installed
Windows XP, all of the original driver files and accessories, and all of
the applications based in this system along with the data, information,
picture, etc., files that had been backed up. The only condition is that
the onboard sound system is actually in working condition. Of course, one
also needs to be careful in performing Microsoft/Windows updates to insure
that no conflicting ones get installed.

Hello,

I am not sure which is your sound card - the high definition or the AC97.

Try the AC97 (AC'97 Audio Codecs (Software)) first, and then the high
definition (High Definition Audio Codecs (Software)) if the former does not
work (it will give errors like 'device not detected').

Remove the old ones using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel before
installing.
