Hi all, I'm using Windows 7 (build 7000) and having difficulty getting
Outlook 2003 to change the status of read mail from 'Unread' to 'Read'. Has
anyone else had this issue working in any of the Windows 7 beta versions? If
so, I'd like to hear from you, especially if you found a solution to the
problem! I didn't have any problems like this using Vista Ultimate, so I'm
not certain what the hang-up could be.

Cheers,
Tsugazi

PS. If you are tempted to write, "Well, W7 is only in beta so you can't
expect everything to work,' then please don't respond; I'm well aware of the
limitations of a beta version. Thank you very much.

You answered your own question.

Being beta is not a "limitation" of Windows 7; beta testers are expected
to give feedback to the developers, not search for help on other channels.

I cannot repro that here.
Can you repro it in Outlook Safe Mode?
Start-> type; outlook.exe /safe

Which mail account type are you using?

Dear Mr. Sparnaaij, Thank you for your response; it was much more helpful
than the 'it's beta don't expect everything to work posts'.

I tried your suggestion and it worked. Hmmm, so what might be the problem,
an add-in? I'll try systematically disabling the add-ins to see if I can
troubleshoot the problem. Any other ideas for what I could try?

To answer your questions, I'm using Outlook with a Groupwise server. I
didn't have problems with Outlook interacting with my university's groupwise
account with Vista or XP, hence my reason for surprise when it didn't work
with W7 (notwithstanding the beta issue).

Any other suggestions would be welcome.
