Reading folder's s users and roles

Is there a way to write a script that will read up a folders “User or Groupâ€
name and role/rights from the properties security section? This is from a
Windows 2000 Server system.

If you mean permissions for access control lists for files/folders you can
use xcacls.vbs to view and manage permissions. The link below explains the
syntax and how to get it. Also use xcacls.vbs /? to see the built in help
