Reading and Wrting into Serial Port data streams.

Dear All,
I have recently come across a software developed on MS-Access software which
allows the user to send and receive a set of pre-defined length of data into
a portable attendance logging device. This portable logging device is
interfaced to the PC using a serial port.
My question is, using MS-Access and its inbuilt VBA, can I mimic the same.
For example, I wish to send data straight to my printer from my Access
program. How will I do it? Any thoughts?
