Reading an odb file with Access 2007

Steve

I have been sent an odb file. Can I read it with my Access 2007.

I tried an "open with", but Access was not a choice?

Thanks,

Steve

I don't think that there is an ODBC driver for ODB. It's been
on the request list for the last 5 years, but [compatibility is a
one way street for open office /open source people: it means
everyone else should be compatible with them].

If you really want to, you can probably use an ODBC/JDBC
bridge, and JDBC to connect to the ODB file. AFAIK,
HSQLDB still doesn't have an ODBC driver, so I think
no one is working on it.

Or an HP ODB (Access 2000) database.

According to this source, it's most likely an Open Office db file:

Access can't open Open Office db files.

In case it's an Organizers database, make a copy of the file, rename the
copy's extension from .odb to .mdb and try to open the *copy* with Access.
If you get an "unrecognizable database format" error message, it's not an
Organizers database file.
