Getting an RPC error message and your computer shuts down?
Know that you have a virus and want to install the patch but don't know if
you have 32 bit or 64 bit Windows?

THEN READ THE MESSAGES ALREADY POSTED BELOW BEFORE POSTING ANOTHER FRANTIC
MESSAGE.....AND KEEP YOUR COMPUTER CURRENT ON ITS PATCHES!!

PLEASE!!! WE ALL THANK YOU!!!

There are exactly THREE messages posted below yours, as of the time that
I read yours, and not one of them has anything to do with viruses,
worms, or their ilk.

(Kind of depends on how one accesses the user groups as to what is
above, or below, or as one "interesting" post said today, `see my post
on page two of this newsgroup', a virtual impossibility to achieve.)

I thought I would try to make my message stand out from the others. But
that's not the point...the point is that SOME PEOPLE believe they OWN these
newsgroups and have the right to dictate the content of the messages posted
to them.

These "self-appointed moderators" need to go outside and see the sun once in
a while. Despite (perhaps) their good intentions, these newsgroups start
with "public" and it means just that. Yes, there is etiquette, but no, I
don't have to follow other people's "rules" if I believe it may help
someone.

Like you are the first one to figure it out?

No one ownes the USENET, only servers that host USENET GROUPS. MS only
one one server that hosts this group. There are probably 1000's of
other server that host this group that MS doen't own.
These "self-appointed moderators" need to go outside and see the sun

I live in Southern Florida. I doubt I need any more sun!

Wow! Scott M. - Super Genius!
Yes, there is

Did anybody tell you that you do "have to follow other people's
'rules?'" You can accept advise of elders, or not. Some people can
only learn by repeating the mistakes of others.

I guess you have choosen not to take the council of those who are wiser
in the ways of USENET than you are. No big deal. No one said that you
have to.

Who's "WE ALL"? You sure don't seem to have the patience needed to be in here
acting like some kind of 'helper' if you have to yell at anyone who looks at
your post or asks a question because they don't know better yet. Is this your
way of joining the 'amethyst aka perdita is a dumbshit club'?

Then I guess you haven't learned how to scroll and read the other posts by
other users.

<==snip>

I know very well how to scroll down, and you obviously missed my point:
I had just finished scrolling through lots and lots of traffic here, and
when I came to your miswritten advice, there were only THREE messages
left for me to scroll down through; all the other messages were ABOVE
the message from you that I was reading. You are posting generic advice
that simply is wrong for many people at many times.

John,

Let me clarify what my meaning was: There are hundreds and hundreds of
messages on this NG about the exact same topic. That's not advice and it's
not wrong - it's a fact. I'm sorry that you could only find 3 of them.

Why do you assume that you are wiser in the ways of the USENET than I am?
Why do you refer to yourself as an "Elder"?
Why do you have a signature that reads: "Self-anointed Moderator"?

Kurt, my whole point to you in all these messages comes down to this:

You come off as very condescending and arrogant.
It is not for you to say who writes what, where and how often.
This is a PUBLIC forum.

You and I disagree about the merits of Krista and my posts, fine - but get
off your high horse and stop acting like you are our dad. Don't think you
are? Refer to lines 1 -3 of this post?

I've wasted too much time on you trying to give you some advice that you
yourself obviously have chosen to ignore.

John, now your just typing to give your fingers something to do!

No where in my message did I say someone was dumb for not knowing what to do
with this virus. The only person who is being insulting here is you. And,
yes, I am being presumptuous that if everyone who has this virus read the
posts before posting a new one, that the others in the NG would be
thankful - You wouldn't? Come on, get real.

And give it a rest already.

Scott said:

Because you proven to me your lack of knowledge about USENET
Why do you refer to yourself as an "Elder"?

Because you obviously aren't mature enough to figure out on your own
what a schmuck you are!
Why do you have a signature that reads: "Self-anointed Moderator"?

Self-deprecating Joke.
Kurt, my whole point to you in all these messages comes down to this:

You come off as very condescending and arrogant.

Only to those that are themselves very condescending and arrogant. I
believe in doing to others as they do unto others!
It is not for you to say who writes what, where and how often.

PMSL! And who are you to tell me what is not for me to say?!
This is a PUBLIC forum.

Yes, and the sky is blue!
You and I disagree about the merits of Krista and my posts, fine -
but get off your high horse and stop acting like you are our dad.

I'll get off my high horse, just as soon as you get off your rocking
horse!
Don't think you are?

In comparison to your childishness?
Refer to lines 1 -3 of this post?

I've wasted too much time on you trying to give you some advice that
you yourself obviously have chosen to ignore.

You have given me nothing more than you've given anybody else here, just
your bitchy attitude.
