Read Receipt received when not requested ?!?

Hi there,

I have a user here on OL2003 who has NOT ticked "request read receipt"
in his tracking option (also not "request delivery receipt" btw).
But from one specific user he SOMETIMES still gets a read confirmation
email.

I cannot get my head around this. What could trigger a read
confirmation being sent to him, when he has not set "request read
receipt" ?

Help much appreciated.

This is an extreme long shot but does the user have any Rules Wizard rules
that might be requesting receipts on certain items?

Hmmm, so the user didn't request it, Outlook wasn't asked to request it. Is
there any sort of pattern to the phantom requests?

Has the user installed any software like watch your back or anything that
messes with read reciepts?

only one pattern and that is that its emails sent to one and the same
person. But then again, not all emails.
i.o.w. for some emails sent to a specific user a read receipt is
received.

did he ever set a rule to request them for this user? If so, there might be
a disconnect between the rules on the server and on the client and you can't
see the rule...
