Read-Only

I've inherited a complex, multi-worksheet file that when I
open notifies me that it's a "read-only" file and asks
whether or not I want to open as a read-only. However,
when I right click on the file and select properties,
the "read only" box is not checked. Additionally, the
file is not shared or protected. How can I make this file
not a "read-only" file? Thanks.
 
Try this. Assuming Windows XP.

File-->Save As

Within this window, click on the Tools button in upper right hand corner. then General Options. See if the 'Read Only' box is checked here. Uncheck it. Save it. Close it. Re-open it.
 
It worked on my system which is Windows 2000...thanks for
the help!
