Read-only wont go away

i tried to change a folder so that its NOT read only, but it wont stay that
way. I have tried using the cmd.exe to disable it but thats not working
either. Can Someone please help me with this?

microsoft is suggesting, isn't working for me.

You likely as seeing a normal XP convention. Change the flag for the files
within the directories (folders), not for the directories themselves.
 
ok, thank you for telling me that. The files are staying un-checked, but the
program still cant use them because the folders are read-only. I need to get
the folders and the files unchecked
