Read-Only Items can be easily edited. Outlook Bug?

Rafael

I was shocked to learn that I am able to edit a read-only field from a view.
Even though I am not able to edit my custom fields when I open a contact,
when I have the field listed in a view and "Allow in-cell editing" option is
enabled, I am able to alter the content of any custom field whether they are
Read-only or not.

I have Outlook 2002 SP2 and the field type is text.

I want to add a field to track who created each contact item. If someone
is able to edit the field then this defeats the purpose of this project.

Thanks,

Rafael

I must have missed but I did not see any correlation between this issue and
the Named Properties explanation in the link below. Anyhow, so that's it?
So only Outlook can make this happen since the "Created" field is read only
both in a form and a view.

Grrr!

Thanks any how,

Rafael
