read only folder attribute

Me

all my folders have the folders attribute read only check
box with a grey check in it. Windows lets me uncheck this
but if I close the folder and look at the attribute it is
set again the same way. It has been stopping me from
saving downloads to any folder. Please help. MS Online
help says open poperties and select security tab, but I
don't have a security tab.

Become Administrator. Open Windows Explorer. Click Tools, Folder Options
and then the View tab. Scroll to the bottom and uncheck 'Use Simple File
Sharing'.

Next time you look at a file's property sheet, the security tab should
appear.
