"read only" flag set for saved attachments

I'm not sure if this is an Outlook issue or an XP issue, but when my employee
saves certain files that I send her as attachements, the "read only" flag is
set. Before she can work on the file, she has to navigate to the appropriate
folder and turn off the "read only" flag.

This doesn't happen every time, and I can't figure out what's causing it.
She uses Outlook and I'm using Outlook Express.

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like she's directly opening the attachment from within the Outlook
Reading Pane. They are opened as Read Only then since they are then opened
in a Temp folder. Saving the attachment first will store it as an editable
file.

Thanks Robert. That's exactly what she's doing. Once she opens from pane, she
then does a "save as" to get into the correct folder. It doesn't seem logical
that Outlook would set the read-only flag in this case, but I long since gave
up trying to apply logic to MS software design :)
