Read only files.

For some reason i cannot remove the read only(sqaure dot not tick) tag from
some jpeg files i have. i can go into properties untick the box hit apply and
close the properties window then go back into the properties and the read
only tick is still there. its like the file is not saving the updated
attributes! can someone help?

there are saved in my d drive. the person that setup my computer set up a c
and d drive.

Have you tried copying one to your C:
drive and unchecking Read Only just to
see if it made a difference?

I don't know if the following command
will help but it might be worth a try:

go to...Start / Run and type:

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.

A dialog box should report the following:

"DllRegisterServer in SHIMGVW.DLL succeeded"

Still no luck! the actual individual pictures are not read only only the
folder. so if i go into D/pics/birthday and click on the properties the read
only square has a square in it. but then i go to each individual files and it
does not have the read only square ticked??

Folders and not JPEG files? Different situation...

Sorry but this did not work, any other suggestiosn?? can i do a system retore
or soemthing like that that will change my settings over????
