Re-sizing window on Open (F4)

I am just converting from WordPerfect to Word. In WordPerfect, if you select F4, which is also Open File, you can re-size the "Open File Window" so that it is full-screen size. That way, you are able to view your entire file list without having to scroll down. It seems that Word does not support this feature because there is no maximize button in the "Open File" window (very surprising). Is there a way to re-size the window? Thanks.

Double-click on the title bar.

Do you mean the title bar that says "Open"? When I double-click it, nothing happens

This works in at least Word 2000 and above. Not sure about earlier versions.
In Word 2002 and above, you can also resize the File Open and File Save
dialogs by dragging with the mouse.

I'm trying it here, and Word 2000's dialogs don't resize by either
method. In Word 2002 and 2003 they do.

I skipped Word 2000, and this feature was pointed out to me in, I guess,
Word 2002. I got the impression that it was something I should have known
already, and for that reason I suppose I just assumed it was a feature I had
been ignorant of in previous versions.

Thank you for your replies. I do have Word 2000 (which I rarely used and am just using it until we get the uprgrade to Word 2003) and that is why the re-sizing feature does not work. I will remember your advice when using Word 2003. Thanks again!

It is always a real pleasure to read a tip I had absolutely no clue about.
Thanks, Suzanne, you made my day. This has bothered me forever, never knew I
could just click.

I forget who clued me in to this (Beth Melton, I think), but it was a
revelation to me, too. I tend to forget about it unless someone asks, since
I keep my folders lean and have the dialog sized large enough to display all
the files in any folder, but it is definitely a good tip. BTW, you can
double-click again to restore the window to the normal size (but if you
don't, it will open maximized the next time you use it).
