For some unknown reason information being received by
cable modem would not allow me to connect to the internet,
either through the Internet browser or MSN browser. I
spoke with MSN and ISP techs, who couldn't resolve the
issue. The ISP tech assured me the system was receiving
packets...??? The ISP tech suggested I may need to
REFORMAT the disk and reinstall all new software.
Well, I didn't like that idea, so I thought I would
reinstall the XP Home operating system, and that by
reinstalling the system, it would repair any problems.
The reinstall stalls out when it is installing windows...
at the phase where it is installing devices. It installs
many of the devises but then stalls out when "33" minutes
remain...
I have lost the ability to access some of the files on the
hard drive, and I cannot deploy the "safe mode" during
setup.
Help. Can I "abort" setup and go back to where I only had
a modem problem? Should I take out some of the system
devices (sound card, video card, tv card) and then see if
setup will continue?
