Have you tried rebooting the PC with the scanner connected and on?

Try to exam the port status in "Windows Device Manager" or in the BIOS setup
mode.
or You can install scanner to another machine .

It's a USB port.

I just went through the same problem your having... look
in the device manager and see if your scanner shows up as
an "unknown device" listed under USB. If it is, you have
to delete the scanner program in "add/remove programs" in
the control panel.

Thanks. I've tried that already and it doesn't work. The
device manager is recognizing the scanner under imaging
deveice.

Scanner problem
