re-installing XP Home

my computer is a mess and i need to re-install Windows XP
Home. when i re-install it wat do i do about the
activation key? do i have to call microsoft to
deactivaate the key or something?

heeeeeeyyllllppp me!!!!!!

Greetings

There is no de-activation. You may activate it as many times as you like as
long as its the
same PC. When it says you need to activate you may get lucky, press "Next"
two times and its done. If not, you will have to call Microsoft (taked 5
minutes) and tell them a code the activation wizard generates, they will
tell you a new code, you type it in and you are done.

Try a Repair install first, it will usually fix many problems and keep you
current application and settings. Activation is prompted at the completion
of the install and will be no problem. As long as it is on the same computer
you can install it as often as you want.

You needn't do anything special.

There's no limit to the number of times you can reinstall and
activate the same WinXP license on the same PC. If it's been more
than 120 days since you last activated that specific Product Key,
you'll most likely be able to activate via the Internet without
problem. If it's been less, you might have to make a 5 minute phone
call.
