I recently transferred data and programs to my computer
which uses XP and Office2000 Pro and now nothing works
without re installing the programs. One problem, the
original discs have been lost in moving several times.
How do I proceed? Do I need to repurchase the software
from Microsoft? Will an upgrade do?
Thanks for your help?

If you are unable to get your Office 2000 CDs replaced, then you'll
need a "Full Version" of Microsoft Office, and not an "Upgrade Version",
since you have no Microsoft Office CD to prove upgrade eligibility
during setup.

You can transfer data, they're just files, but programs must
be installed to the OS registry. Yes, you need to install
our programs and you will need media (CDs) to do that. You
can purchase software at any place you choose. Microsoft
(or your bank) do not replace your lost personal property.

Time to go shopping.
