I am fixing a WIN XP Home Edition computer. There are no disks.I have
done updates and it's a genuine XP install.
There is a I386 folder and the Certificate of authenticity Sticker on side.
I created the 6 boot disk for XP home sp2.
Can I format and re install?

After cleaning computer of virues, trojans, worms, spyware, adware I am
still having problems. I cannot waste anymore time trying to figure out
and solve one problem after another.

No, you need the actual Windows XP CD
or your computer manufacturer's Restore CD.
Contact them for assistance.

The computer vendor must give you some way to restore the computer.
There are 3 options: an installation CD, recover CD(s), or a recovery
partition on the hard drive. If it didn't come with disks then it
should have the third option. Contact the vendor's tech support for how
to restore it using the 3rd option.

I will call DEll tomorrow.Thanks.

Plato, I agree with you. BUT........If CDs did not come with the machine
and are not available from the vendor because he chose to use a hard-drive
backup location, then what do you suggest?

One should always own the CD for the OS they want to continue to use.

Demand a CD from the vendor. Or, but the CD.
