Re-install Win2k Pro won't take product key

B

Bo

OK, I had Win2k Pro installed and everything works fine. Kids start loading
mp3s so I replace the drive but when I go to install the OS on the new drive
it won't take the product key.

Any ideas on how to procede?

Greetings --

You need to examine the Product Key very carefully. It's awfully
easy to mistake a "B" for an "8," a "G" for a "6," an "S" for a "5,"
or a "Q" for a "O" or "0." Fortunately, Microsoft had the good sense
to leave the "1's," "I's," "O's," and "0's" out of the equation.
Also, be sure that your CapsLock if _off_ while entering the Product
Key.

This is usually just a case of keying in one or more of the alphanumeric
characters incorrectly. Verify that O & 0, 1 & l, 8 & B, etc. are being input
correctly.

Yes, I can see how that can happen. However, it has an 8 and a B so I
can tell them apart. There is no S or 5 and I can make out the tail on
the Q.

There is one digit that has a scratch on the right most side. It looks
like it is a B, H, R, or 6. But I've tried all these with no sucess. Are
there any other possibilities?

Also, Does Win2k Pro register itself so that it can only be installed on
one machine?
