Using the Veritas backup Utility that comes with XP we have created several
backup sets using a SCSI Data DAT drive, each set comprising of several tapes.
The Backup Utility Catalogue on the computer has been lost & although the
software says it can re-create the catalogue from the tapes we cannot make it
work., after reading each tape it asks for the next one, as it does so the
Manage Media window shows the nuber of tapes in the set increasing, however
after the last tape in the set has been read it still asks for the next tape,
the only other option is to cancel which aborts the catologue process. Thus
we now have loads of tapes with backed up data that cannot be recovered.
Note before loosing the catalogue we recovered data from these tapes.
