You can reinstall a Service Pack only if you uninstall it first.

Why do you think anything has been compromised?

Which service pack? If Service Pack 3, what was the "sequence" it was
installed onto the XP? Was IE 8, IE 7 and Windows Media Player 11
(WMP 11) installed in the sequence. If yes, then they need to be
uninstalled in the correct order that they were installed.
