re-activation issue

I just had something weird happen to my XP Pro version. I
have been running the OS for a little over a year and
yesterday when I booted my system I was prompted to
activate my XP Pro. I was unable to do it via internet as
well. I had to dial in and do it. Has anyone else had this
problem or or know what caused it? My logs dont show
anything.

No new hardware was installed. I had powered it off one
day and the next I had to re-activate it
