RDC error on host

T

Tony Hansen

I have attempted to log into my laptop from a couple
different WinXP machines and recieve a
"user interface error: winlogon.exe - Application
error... instruction at '0x100396bfe' referenced memory
at '0x100396bfe'. could not be 'read'"
..... with option to terminate or debug.

When using this laptop to log into another machine, it is
able to connect, but two different winXP systems trying
to access the laptop with RDC (sepearately) recieve this
error. It is in the event viewer log of the laptop with
additional message Source: TermDD Descrip: " The RDP
protocol component X.224 detected an error in the
protocol stream and has disconnected the client. "

the recent updates to the system have been to install IIS
5.1 from the WinXP disc, MS Visual Studio.NET and i think
Windows update came through recently.

Any ideas?

Update for anyone interested....

The problem was with a Cisco Aironet Wirless Adapter
Utility (ACU)that limited the capability of Windows to
use "Fast-user Switching". Once removed the RDP was
working fine. however that didnt necessarily solve the
issue as i still needed to be able to use my wireless
adapter. In contacting Cisco, they had never heard of
the issue previously (I was most thankful and impressed
with the level of assistance that was given regardless if
we could resolve the issue), and thus i upgraded the
firmware to Cisco's latest edition and now both the RDP
and the Cisco software work concurrently.

thanks
