RDC and Vista

B

Bill Pomeroy

I am running Vista Business Edition at my office. I can connect with RDC to
the Vista machine using a Win XP machine but not with another Vista machine.
The same is true with VNC, I can connect with a non Vista machine, but not
VNC on a Vista machine. I know I have all the correct ports open on both the
router and the Vista Firewall as I can connect with non vista machines. I am
assuming that it has something to do with authentication on the Vista/Vista
attempts. I have tried using workgroup/username password,
computername/username password, and ipaddress/username password all with the
same results.
All responses appreciated.
TIA

Hi Bill

VNC is not fully supported under Vista, has to be run in user mode (server)
and user must be logged in.

If XP can connect the Vista machine then no reason why the other Vista cant,
there must be something on the other Vista blocking outgoing. Can the other
Vista connect to the other Vista... ;-)

What is the error message and what is in the event viewer of each vista
machine? (right mouse click computer and manage to get to windows logs,
event viewer)
