I'm pretty sure you're correct, I'm using a download manager that will
establish multiple connections to each server and it only allowed one of the
8 connections I have it set up for.

The Akamai download manager that Microsoft recommends using
establishes 4 connections.

Downloading right now. 12% into the download, transfer rates are still
holding at or above 400k/sec, but with the Pre-RC1 that I got, it was like
that at first, then gradually fell down to the 100's. (Although I never had
any interruptions.) I'm assuming that Microsoft hasn't officially put that
link on their website yet because I doubt they have officially released it
yet even though it says so. I think MS is just prepping their website, and
that would probably also explain why most of you haven't had e-mails yet. I
do bet it will become fully available tonight or tomorrow.

Are you using the DL Manager in IE ?

I jusst started the DL with IE7 and its running okay, up to 100MB @ 80 -
120KB/sec.

Thanks Sascha for the link.

Just to get off to a good start, I tried to download using the Manager
and also using my browser, the manager is still going, but they kicked
the browser off, probably limited to one per customer at any one time.

I downloaded both files at the same time. 32-bit on Akamai, and 64-bit
on Netscape 7 download manager. Akamai seemd to go faster, but they both
completed and gave a good hash value.

I'd say the download craze has started,.. I live about 30 minutes outside of
DC downloading on a 5 meg cable connection,.. and am currently getting
70-95KB/sec on the x64 download.. ick.. hope it gets better...

'Saw the link early and got right to it .. was able to get both (32 and 64)
without a connection reset or 'nuthin - and I downloaded them
simlutaneously! S i m u l t a n e o u s l y !! They each got about 300
KB/sec too.

I'm setting up a multi-boot on a Sempron with an ATI 9800 Radeon AGP card.

I am also getting a 907 byte file with the download manager. If I try just
with IE7 I get a 721 byte file.
I have tried both ways several times and have cleared my cache between each
attempt.
Does anyone have any ideas ?

I just kicked off the download and after a hasty start at 300K/s for a few
moments, it is slowly but steadily going down... at 60k/s now and looking
forward to it stalling and eventually hitting 0... :(

I got my copy of Beta 2 back in July and just recently installed it, just to
find my software outdated... I just found this link after days of scouring
microsoft's site for a download but I would prefer a CD mailed to me as it
was for Beta 2... Will they offer that? I would gladly pay $10 for shipping
as opposed to keeping my computer on for a week straight as it downloads...

Good news is my key is valid. :)

Just goes to show that the URL came before the email!.
Now if we could just work out the one about the chicken and the egg ...

Akamai pulled ahead around 500 and around 515 with Akamai at 50% and Firefox
at a mere 32% I stopped theFirefox.
Note: I did access the Akamia using Firefox.

Now off to run setup :)
