Vista RC1 x86 told me that it didn't like my previous ( onboard asus)
realtek AC97 drivers.
I went here
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/

and see new Vista Beta Driver as of 9/14/2006 , BUT ( 27mb) the zip file
downloads at 2~5 kb/sec it says that it will take hours. I tried all 3 of
their download sites - none any better. If you think you need 'em, do it
when you're heading out for the day / going to bed.

Well the download finished - I unzipped - installed it - rebooted - same
thing. I checked and RC1 DOES reflect the new driver - still get the
error.

Is it just me or there's something wrong with realtek's driver .....
there's this annoying Pop UP that keeps telling me that the drivers
are not designed for Vista and this happened almost with each and
every release ... :-/

I too kept getting the popup after I got the download and installed the
realtek update.
I then went to ASUS ( my motherboard) - no help/updates there. Then I
went to Nvidia ( they make the chipset for my ASUS board) and THERE I
found new updates. I downloaded and installed THOSE files, and THAT
fixed my realtek issues. It workes fine now with the new Nvidia
drivers - no more pop-ups.

Of course, that only helps if you have asus.
If an OEM, try their site , but maybe not yet posted there ???
