A w2k client is connecting to a win2k ras server fine,
however it is not getting the gateway and when logged in
you are limited to resources only on the ras server and
not the rest of the network just as you would when you are
on the lan. Help????

Thanks

This has nothing to do with the gateway address. On the client, the
default gateway will be the "received" IP address, which means it sends
everything over the RAS link.

If the client receives an IP address in the same subnet as the LAN
machines, no real routing is done. The server just acts as a proxy for the
remote client, doing proxy ARP to get replies addressed to the remote and
sending them on over the PPP link.

If the client gets an IP address in some other subnet, you need to
enable routing on the RAS server.

Can you ping LAN machines by IP? If so, your routing is working, and the
problem is name resolution.

I have also the same problem. The client receives an IP and DNS address in the same subnet as the Lan. But I cannot ping LAN machines by IP. So I must have routing problems? Help
